How is acute cholecystitis diagnosed?

Diagnosing Acute Cholecystitis

Acute cholecystitis is usually diagnosed by:

  • Abdominal ultra sound
  • CT-scans of the gallbladder
  • ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio-Pancreatography)
ERCP is a procedure that enables your physician to examine the pancreatic and bile ducts.
  • Other laboratory tests may be recommended by a physician, depending on the condition of the patient.
